About Us

The International Freeze-Dry Association (IFDFA) is a trade association formed in 1990 by and for the individuals engaged in the business of freeze-drying flowers and botanicals. We are a non-profit organization relying solely on dues and donations collected from members to cover operating costs. We are dedicated to improving the industry as a whole and your business in particular. 

Our objectives include:

To foster friendship, networking and sharing through conferences, tours, seminars, regional meetings and special interest groups.

To provide members with the contacts, sources and information necessary to make their business prosper.

To compile and distribute information pertinent to the production of freeze-dried florals and botanicals. A quarterly newsletter, The Freeze-Dry Quarterly, is distributed to each member and was established to provide a broad spectrum of educational information as it relates to industry trends as well as advances in technology and procedures. The newsletter also provides a means of efficient networking and communication among members, manufacturers and support services.

To support and encourage research in the production and marketing of freeze-dried florals and botanicals.

To continually educate ourselves, wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors and the general public about and to promote a greater interest in freeze-dried products.

The members of the IFDFA encompass a wide variety of production and business experiences. They range from large growers/freeze-dry processors with full scale production and wholesaler operations to the full service retail florist and the individual home based crafters. Anyone in the business of producing the beautifully preserved botanicals we call freeze-dried can become a member.

The IFDFA also recognizes the importance of related service industries, thereby encouraging wholesalers, retailers, growers, suppliers, researchers, educators and students to join and gain and share their knowledge and experiences.
